Live Review: Purple Sneakers Playlists on Rdio

13 March 2012 | 4:32 pm | Staff Writer

Purple Sneakers will be compiling a weekly playlist of songs we dig on Rdio, a digital music streaming service.

Here at Purple Sneakers, we kind of like music. We kind of like music in the same way that Tom Hansen kind of likes Summer Finn, in the same way that an athlete running a three day-long marathon kind of likes water, in the same way that you would kind of like to find forty million dollars under your bed.

So when we heard of Rdio, a digital streaming service for music on demand, we frothed at the mouth and had an hour-long screaming fit. And then we get our shit together and teamed up with Rdio, becoming an 'Influencer' on the site. Because Rdio was exactly what we needed: unlimited music from a library of 12 million songs, with access available from computers, tablets, and phones.

We've been using Rdio to provide us with a soundtrack in the office, and thought we'd share the love in the form of playlists, in the spirit of the mixtape. So, every week, we'll share the music that we've been covering on Rdio, which, as a member, you can stream for free. And if you're not a member, you can preview it.

With that in mind, here are our Purple Sneakers playlists.

Our March 12 playlist so far has the likes of New Order, Clap Your Hands Hands Say Yeah, Gigamesh, Florence + the Machine, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Twin Shadow, Sufjan Stevens, Bon Chat, Bon Rat, Neon Indian, Portugal. The Man, The 5.6.7.8's, and heaps more to come...
