Live Review: FLASHBACK: Blur 'Coffee and TV'

9 March 2012 | 5:00 pm | Hannah Story

Everyone loves Blur. I love Blur. You love Blur. Blur just understand how to make indie pop. And this is one of the best clips ever....

Way back in 1999, when some of us were sitting at tiny desks in a tiny primary school, BLUR were at the height of their popularity. Well they were popular before this too. But they released ‘Coffee and TV’ which had the darling little clip above accompanying it.

NME ranked it number 20 on their list of the greatest music videos of all time. Yes, spend the next 6 minutes of your life watching little Milky, the milk carton’s adventure through the city….

Blur had Britpop down. And they were so much cooler than some of their contemporaries, but we’re not naming names.

From album number 6, 13, ‘Coffee and TV’ showcases the vocal stylings of guitarist, Graham Coxon, with the usual suspect, Damon Albarn sitting in the back seat and muttering instructions to disgruntled Coxon. He is driving this song and he will pull over whenever he damn well pleases.

Now would you please “take me away from this big bad world and agree to marry me…”
