Live Review: Sterling Silver ‘Closer To Me’

14 July 2015 | 1:08 pm | Madeline Kilby

The time has finally come for STERLING SILVER to make good on his promise to release something of his very own and the result is the stellar ‘Closer To Me’.

Brisbane local STERLING SILVER has been kind enough to produce remixes of some of those great tracks of last decade, including Fat Joe's ‘What’s Luv?’. While this is nothing short of fantastic, the time has finally come for him to make good on his promise to release something of his very own and the result is the stellar ‘Closer to Me’.

Working behind the scenes with fellow Aussie artists such as Tyler Touché, Luke Million, Young Franco and YesYou, Sterling Silver has been very busy, however this does not mean any less love and care has been put into his own stuff. We’re assumed there was some sleepless nights creating his art, but having received love from Triple J Unearthed it has clearly all paid off.

‘Closer to Me’ tells the story of the longing for intimacy and the tension between two people. To portray this both male and female vocals are interlaced with a beat and groove reminiscent of 90’s house music. Sterling Silver describes it as “the perfect late night club vibe”.

The female vocal in ‘Closer To Me’ is soft and sensual, but at times the male vocal is electronic and dark. This works to counteract the tropical percussion and summary vibe in order to create a song that has you longing for the warmth of summer, the way the vocalists long for the warmth of intimacy.

‘Closer To Me’ is out now. You can check out the aforementioned remixes on Soundcloud.
