Live Review: Sable & Kele 'The One'

29 August 2014 | 5:36 pm | Lauren Payne

Sable and Kele Okereke have dropped their collaborative track 'The One'. Rejoice!

One is an upcoming Perth-based producer, the other a producer who has previously won us over as the lead singer of indie rock band BLOC PARTY and together, they've created 'The One'.

SABLE has basically just killed it in 2014. Releasing fantastic tracks like 'MT Moon' and 'Foolin', Australia has been introduced to the gem and all round fantastic talent of the Pilerats Records signing. The guy has performed at both Circo and Splendour In the Grass, the former of which brought him face to face with British producer KELE.

KELE introduced himself to world firstly as the lead singer of BLOC PARTY. The band released killer tracks that had his cockney voice keeping us energised and basically ready for anything, that is, until the band disbanded. As we mourned the loss of BLOC PARTY, KELE had gone off on his own and created a series of electronic tracks that completely blew us away when they were first released. The man showed the world he had more talent than we ever thought possible and his latest single 'Doubt' is probably the best example of that.

'The One' brings both of these fantastic artists together and produces a percussion driven track that sounds both organic and smooth as ever. With KELE's unique vocals floating over the warped synths and twinkling samples, we have a very light-hearted track that has so much soul that it basically oozes out of 'The One'. SABLE is already a master of his craft and it's turned up tenfold as his technicolor synths burst to life during the song's chorus. 'The One' is a track that both artists probably wouldn't have thought of releasing on their own however, when great minds work together, amazing things happen.

'The One' is available to download for free through SABLE's Bandcamp so get on it before it disappears.
