Live Review: Sable ‘Foolin’ (Basenji Remix)

27 May 2014 | 5:28 pm | Caitlin Medcalf

Taking on SABLE’s loud bouncer ‘Foolin’, BASENJI has turned it down a notch, bringing out a completely different vibe in the track.

Sydney based producer BASENJI has pretty much blown up over course of 2014. What with playing at various boat parties, club nights and multiple gigs, I guess you could say it’s been a big year already for BASENJI.

He notoriously shows his skill when manoeuvring and delving through the multiple layers that he constantly plays around with. His tracks are wonderlands of sounds and rhythms, fused into one hot mess that doesn’t feel like it’s a mess. The resultant? A completely diverse repertoire of originals.

His latest installation, and first released remix, does just the same. Taking on SABLE’s loud bouncer ‘Foolin’, BASENJI has turned it down a notch, bringing out a completely different vibe in the track.

He’s done this thing in the middle part of the track where phrases of synths fade in and out with the beat, creating a pulse. He changes the texture of the track constantly, making it feel like a three-part movie of sorts. Essentially, the track is a rush of deep house combined with dance overtones, making the track a wholesome one that will leave you satisfied.

This track was already diverse, and BASENJI’s shown he’s not just a songwriter, but he’s also an innovator.

Released through Pilerats Records, you can pick it up for free on their Soundcloud.
