Live Review: Austen invites you to join her on the ‘Darkside’

14 November 2016 | 1:29 pm | Abbey Lenton

Brisbane-based electronic pop artist AUSTEN maintains the hype with her slinky new song ‘Darkside’ and East Coast tour dates

Electro-pop newcomer AUSTEN maintains the hype with her slinky new song ‘Darkside’.

The Brissy-based musician only released her debut single ‘Faded‘ in February, and heads have already began to turn. ‘Darkside’ is our second taste of Austen’s talents, and it certainly reaffirms her place on the ‘ones to watch’ list.

A total shoulder-roller, the track is understated with a touch of lush. The layers are the song’s most impressive element. Synths chime in and out as Austen’s layered vocals maintain the beat. The artist harmonises with herself, generating a real sense of totality and warmth.
