Live Review: AZURA debuts stunning single 'Midnight'

Brisbane producer Azura debuts first ever single 'Midnight' off soon to be released EP

Brisbane newcomer, AZURA aka LAUREN COUTTS, has recently her ethereal single 'Midnight,' the first track from her soon to be released EP. A stirring soundscape, layered with celestial vocals and gossamer production, as far as debuts go, Azura has hit this one out of the park!

Enlisting the help of producer JACK PREST (Studio 301) in Sydney, Prest helped elevate the quality without corrupting Coutt's rawness, and the result is utterly breathtaking. AZURA said of the collab, "He helped me turn a bedroom demo into what it is now. I had been writing everyday for a few years and it was the first time I'd written something I'd loved enough and gotten on a plane for."

The story and raw emotion behind the song, are as interesting as the unique elements of production, as Coutts said she "wrote the lyrics while waiting at a bus stop in the city at midnight...I guess it's about that streetlight haze, unrequited love and sleeplessness."

Lauren's lachrymose is transcendental. Her lyrics speak to anyone who remembers the tragic feeling of leaving their first gig. Their first kiss with a stranger. The intense electricity that you find within the walls of your favourite live music venue. 'Midnight' captures underlying universal emotions really strike a chord. We're looking forward to hearing more off Azura's debut EP.
