So sit back, kick off your shoes and pretend you're on a Purple Sneakers dancefloor in 2010. Let Baio lead the way through this smooth time.
We've had a lot of big stuff go down on our FBi Click show over the past year, but perhaps nothing bigger than this. If you read the title of the article, then yes, your eyes aren't deceiving you. As this week we have none other than New York via London's BAIO on guest mix duties!!
Everyone should know Chris Baio one way or another. You may know him as the bassist for seminal indie legends, Vampire Weekend, or maybe it's from his solo material as Baio - or maybe you remember him from your days partying at the ol' Purple Sneakers clubs in Melbourne and Sydney - where he has DJ'd! Regardless, it's pretty clear the guy can hold a groove.
2015 sees Vampire Weekend taking the backseat and Baio's solo material becoming the centre of attention. So far we've seen two singles come from Baio, tracks we called "pulsating, upbeat and loud" and "more complex than the pop songs of era’s past" - these will appear on his debut solo album. Entitled The Names, you can expect it out September 18 via Glassnote.

Taking the same experimental and fun approach to his mixing, over the course of the next 30 minutes you'll be treated to an eclectic mix of downtempo house, distorted disco, pulsating rhythms, tribal percussion and balearic beats. It's bright and vibrant, and features heaps of throwbacks to the music that influences his solo material.
So sit back, kick off your shoes and pretend you're on a Purple Sneakers dancefloor in 2010. Let Baio lead the way through this smooth time. We told you he could hold a groove.
