Swedish electro group KATE BOY have returned to the music world, delivering an energetic track in ‘Midnight Sun’. A concept foreign to many of us Aussie’s this track will enlighten you about the mysteries and delights of Scandinavia.

Written in the thick of winter where sun is out for just a mere moment of time each day in Sweden, this track is not just about the beauty of summer but also about emotionally meeting in the middle and accepting each other for who they are. It’s a clever metaphor to work with given singer Kate Akhurst is originally from Australia; it highlights a journey to a new life and being accepted on it.

Released by Pitchfork, ‘Midnight Sun’ is like a call to action. The beat, combined with Akhurst’s voice, makes you look up and pay attention. Once you are listening to the lyrics you feel an overwhelming urge to get out there. There is a constant deep percussion-based undercurrent throughout the track that drives the track forward.

Kate Boy have produced ‘Midnight Sun’ with the help of Christoffer Berg who is known for working with heavy weights such as Depeche Mode and Fever Ray. Not bad for a group who’s debut EP is yet to come.

Said Debut EP, One, will be available in November. In the meantime you can grab ‘Midnight Sun’ now on iTunes, and check out more of what Kate Boy have to offer on Soundcloud.
