Live Review: Urban Cone 'Weekends' (Feki Remix)

3 July 2015 | 12:29 pm | Emma Jones

Ahead of their Splendour In The Grass appearance, Urban Cone have been remixed by up-and-coming Brisbane producer Feki with their song 'Weekends'.

It's not as if we needed any more reasons to get excited about Splendour In The Grass later this month, but thanks to Brisbane's Feki here's one more! Ahead of their imminent visit to Australia, FEKI has jumped on remix duties for Urban Cone and their track 'Weekends'.

Taking the original track and heaping on the good vibes, Feki once again outdoes himself with this latest remix. Stripping it back and heaping on the R&B vibes with a laidback style, I could hazard a guess that Urban Cone have never sounded quite like this.

Shifting the track into more Feki-friendly territory, the once guitar-heavy summer track has been turned into an upbeat electronic dream, complete with Feki's tremendous drum work, some intricate synth work and shimmering samples. The nostalgia in the vocals is still there, but is now complimented by muted guitars, huge cymbal crashes and tinkering keys all combining to make a blissful and warm soundscape.

The light and airy remix is a little more fun and easy going than some of Feki's other tracks, but shows off a versatilty in the producer that perhaps hasn't been heard before. Feki was named as one of our Artists to Watch for this year, and he is doing a really good job at proving why.
