Live Review: Josef Salvat 'Shoot & Run' (Bodhi Remix)

1 September 2014 | 2:33 pm | Lauren Payne

Josef Salvat has had his track 'Shoot & Run' remixed by the Bodhi boys.

JOSEF SALVAT has been flying between London and Sydney whilst creating textured tracks that tend to ease their way into your mind.

The producer really has a talent that makes him stand out and this is probably why BODHI decided to remix one of his tracks. BODHI of course have their own flavour of music that we've all become familiar with as they continue to release killer tracks that keep us all listening for months after their initial release. The duo have taken a very smooth route whilst remixing SALVAT's track 'Shoot & Run' which really makes it seem like it will stand the test of time.

The original mix for SALVAT's track 'Shoot & Run' has a very orchestral mood to it. It's emotive and also draws influence from a variety of genres. It mixes pop and deep house into a R'n'B infused piece and it definitely sounds big. This is the kind of track that could be heard anywhere by anyone and still seem to connect with them mainly because of SALVAT's own vocals that just sound sweetly sinister.

BODHI have taken the track and turned it towards the house end, an end they know too well, and turned it down a notch. The remix is quite enigmatic in the way that SALVAT's vocals now writhe around with the soothing synths and feel quite ghostly rather than empowering. SALVAT is a versatile artist and so his voice seems to suit BODHI's just as well as it does in his own mix and really owned it.

The remix is very BODHI, but it's also very SALVAT; it's the connection of the artists strengths.
