Live Review: LISTEN: TCTS 'These Heights'

15 November 2013 | 5:40 pm | Hannah Galvin

TCTS has just released his 'These Heights' EP through Greco-Roman! Here's the title track.

Manchester's Sam O'Neill - widely known under his solo production moniker TCTS has finally revealed his brand new single 'These Heights' and has released it through Berlin/London label Greco-Roman.

Setting sail with a pensive, hollow hum, it doesn't take long for a bubbly synth to start darting around the playing field. With this happening within the first 10 seconds of 'These Heights', you'll become completely attuned to the build-up of layers multiplying within the dome of the song. Once the direction of the track has been established, the deep groove becomes accompanied with a punchy beat, as well as vocals that both soar and fall, offering a variety of pitch to the very strong and wholesome sonic backdrop.

If you were to pick apart the different samples and melodies, you'd be left with a large amount of sounds that appear to be quite different from one another, yet totally work once pieced together, as the elements that make up 'These Heights' have been so perfectly selected to deliver a wonderfully sophisticated tune.
