Live Review: WATCH: Joe Goddard 'She Burns' ft. Mara Carlyle (Official Video)
Joe Goddard's first single 'She Burns' featuring Mara Carlyle for his upcoming Taking Over EP has just been released as the track's official video.
Hot Chip member JOE GODDARD has already given us some detail of his upcoming EP Taking Over. With the first single released last month, the accompanying clip to 'She Burns' featuring vocalist Mara Carlyle has been revealed!
From Carlyle's line of sight, two corpse dressers pull on their white coats and puncture the singer, exporting bodily fluids and injecting some sort of med or botox into her face. From here Carlyle is dressed and beautified with makeup, nail polish and braided hair so that she is presentable for the open casket of her own funeral.
All the while, Carlyle lays there singing directly to us, with certain parts of her body moving and tapping along to the beat of the song. Through the use of amazing cinematography, parts of the frame are frozen whereas other elements are not, creating a really clever juxtaposition that focuses on the lyricism of 'She Burns', which is how the body ended up in such a lifeless state.

Through the twist at the very end of the clip, it seems as though Carlyle was never completely dead, and was singing the song from a soulful experience.
Quite a deep and hypnotic track, 'She Burns' will feature on Joe Goddard's Taking Over EP that will be out later this year through DFA and Greco-Roman.
