Live Review: Alison Wonderland 'Run' (Tina Says Remix)

WA producer TINA SAYS has been kicking around for a little while now, but it seems she is really pulling out all stops lately. Of course, we are not facing a shortage of Alison Wonderland  remixes by any means, thanks to her debut album dropping recently, but there is something about this homegrown talent that stopped me in my tracks.

Taking the fresh trap beats and turning them inside out, Tina Says has given this a whole new feel, firmly planting it in the bass-house area. It's heavy, warped, and overflowing with pounding drum beats and kicks that it's not surprising at all if you find yourself preferring this take over the original.

From the first drop, with the heaving, bouncy bass jabs and shimmering chopped vocal slices, you're paying attention whether you like it or not. Plunging it into the dark and gritty industrial side of things, Tina Says makes Run dirty and grimy in the best way possible.

Starting off with a hard hitting drum beat and Alison Wonderland's original vocals echoing over the top, it isn't long at all before the mix descends into the underground. Industrial synth jabs roar and bounce around in the dark mix, still keeping with the house vibes but much grimier than anything we've been hearing recently from our home grown talents.

The remix's ebb and flow, and Tina's ability to know when it's just enough keeps the track from feeling repetitive as she continually adds more to the mix at the right time. If this is any indicator of what else we can expect to hear from Tina Says, it would not be surprising at all if she overtook the likes of the artist she remixes here. We can't wait to see what she drops next!
