Live Review: Years & Years 'Take Shelter' (Onra Remix)

17 July 2014 | 11:20 pm | Darren Ng

Parisian beat maker Onra goes for broke with a massive remix of Kitsune Maison favourites Years & Years' track 'Take Shelter'.

Having been on the exclusive Kitsune Maison 15 compilation for their previous track ‘Traps’, Electro-soul pop team Years & Years has upped their game with their release of ‘Take Shelter’.

Team leader Olly Alexander who is adept in both screenplay (Great Expectations YO) and music, provides the charming hooks and modulated voice, who then deservingly receives the comparison to Justin Timberlake by a Soundhound User.

Their alarmingly fast rise to popularity has spiked the interest of Parisian hip-hop beat maker Onra, who puts his spin on. With this successful collaboration, you can tell they mean business... The track entering unchartered territories with a go-for-broke mindset. While only retaining the modulated vocals bits, Onra adds in touchy piano bits and with beautiful fade outs that amplifies the veiled airy attack he is appreciated for. For optimum enjoyment, I would recommend putting  your headphones on, trust me it would sound amazing to the T on a trip.

There is no word on a Years & Years trip to Down Under but they go on a UK tour supporting $am ‘Money on my Mind’ $mith on his ‘In the Lonely Hour’ tour in November.
