LISTEN: Sage The Gemini & Iamsu! ‘Gas Pedal’ (Salva Remix)

SALVA_ANDY_J_SCOTT-154

If you were lucky enough to catch SALVA on his recent Operatives/Astral People supported Australian tour, you would’ve realised that the US based producer is no stranger to delivering bass tunes that stem from hip-hop roots. So you won’t be surprised to hear that his latest remix, is all that and more.

On the back of remixes for rad dudes like Shlohmo, LOL Boys and more - Salva is back with a re imagining of Sage The Gemini and Iamsu!‘s hit, ‘Gas Pedal’ – and he’s taken it down a dark road, full of trap music and other fun shit.

The original beat samples the instantly-recognizable horn lead from N2Deep’s ‘Back To The Hotel’ (though Just Blaze sampled it as well for ‘Show Me What You Got’, which Public Enemy also flipped) and Salva flips it on its head, by throwing in some incredibly intense bass. There’s also an overhaul of snares and kickdrums to keep the trap fans content, and the vocals reverberate around and bounce off the walls of bass on show.

This isn’t groundbreaking, but I’m sure if you’re here right now – you’re not really looking for anything groundbreaking. You’re looking for one hell of a dance track, with throbbing bass and pulsing snares – and that is exactly what Salva provides.

About Tom Hutchins

Tom Hutchins is a weird dude. He's the kind of dude that will be really awkward when you meet him in person - so it's good he edits from home. When he's not at the helm of PS, he's occasionally writing about lo-fi and editing his baby, We Talk, You Die. One day he'll be as famous as that foreman guy from The Block.
