These days it’s proving more difficult to tag an act with just one musical genre and Australia’s own Jagwar Ma sure aren’t making it any easier for us.

These days it’s proving more difficult to tag an act with just one musical genre and Australia’s own JAGWAR MA sure aren’t making it any easier for us. We know it, they know it, and anyone who doesn’t will soon know it. I mean check out this mouthful of a description for their upcoming album, Howlin.

“Imagine the Chemical Brothers produced by Phil Spector at the Hacienda featuring the dead members of The Beatles and a splash of Tame Impala and you might get some idea of the sound and vision these two have.”

Musical influences and resurrections aside (John Lennon forever), five tracks off their anticipated debut LP have already received some dub-wizardry from London-based producer, RICHARD NORRIS, under one of his many side projects, THE TIME AND SPACE MACHINE.

With NORRIS’ touch, JAGWAR MA’s ‘Did You Have To (Float On?)’ comes to an uber lengthy 9:38 edit of syncopated grooves, guitar twangs and organ synths. Like putting an ear to a seashell, listen close enough and you may just hear the ocean. Okay maybe not the ocean, but there’s a seagull like sound scattered throughout the tune.

Will the tune have you floating along its sonic waves of chill, or have you a little sea sick? Only one way to find out.
