Live Review: The Possé's 'Happy Accidents' sounds like anything but a mistake

The brainchild of Ross Ferraro and Andrew Elston, THE POSSÉ might seem like a new face to most of us. However, this homegrown four-piece are veterans of Australia's endlessly expanding music scene and 'Happy Accidents' sounds like something only people who have been in the game for a hot minute could produce.

After spending a year cracking down in the studio in Sydney, and rocking an impressive string of sold out gigs, The Possé have worked tirelessly to combine their influences from all across the Australian music scene and produce a very raw, back-to-basics approach to dance music, with special attention to house.

While dance music probably isn't a genre you associate with the terms "raw" or "back-to-basics," I can guarantee The Possé have done just that with this first taste of their debut EP, which will be titled Our Thing. Seems like an aptly-named record, as 'Happy Accidents' is a sound that's all their own while still not losing sight of what came before them. It's like a musical TARDIS - as the six minute tune travels on, you really get a sense that this act have truly moulded their influences into a new classic that sounds like right now.

The act have explicitly stated that there are no samples on this track, and have also specifically outlined the instruments they used to create it if you're interested: Roland Tr-808, Fender Rhodes, Roland Tb-303, Hohner Clavinet, and Roland Juno 6.

I don't know about you lot, but I don't think this sounds anything like an accident. With an introduction like this mega tune, The Possé are intentionally making a name for themselves and that's a name you should keep your eye on.
