Live Review: Premiere: Jeffrey Alexander 'How You Want To Feel'

4 November 2015 | 11:26 am | Caitlin Medcalf

We've got a fantastic track to premiere today. Titled 'How You Want To Feel' it's kind of hard to believe that this is only Jeffrey Alexander's debut track.

It's always the projects that began as more of an outlet that catch us by surprise. JEFFREY ALEXANDER began his run in the same way; creating music purely as a creative outlet. Thinking not much of it, eventually he'd stored up a couple of tracks and realised that he had an EP.

He's been heavily involved in the music industry for quite some time now, garnering a reputation for assisting more than a few accomplished musicians and multi-platinum selling records.

It's his turn now, and with his eponymously titled EP coming out very soon, he's about to get a taste of it. It won't be out for a little while, but we're SO excited to be sharing the debut track from this incredible artist!

Titled 'How You Want To Feel' it's kind of hard to believe that this is only Jeffrey's debut track. It's got such a classic house feel to it, but not only that, the groove and funk are way too real!

There's a quiet alarm like synth that bops in the background, but aside from this, it's really the subtleties in this one that bring it out. He's done well to play with the levels, bringing the bass right down when he wants you to anticipate it, and bringing it right up when it climaxes.

The vocal sample works as more of a rhythmic feature, and I think that's what I love most about this one. Not only does this work hard to keep the melody as the main feature, but it works hard to ensure that this one really pushes forward.

It's actually really hard to not move around when listening to this one. That hook though! Spinning it in and out of each second, it's progressive enough that it's catchy but not so that it's overpowering.

Although I've said it before, I feel like it has to be said again. It's so hard to envision that this is only Jeffrey's first release.

Just wait until you hear the rest of the EP.
