Live Review: Shura '2Shy'

11 March 2015 | 10:56 pm | Emma Jones

Rising star Shura has released her third track on Annie Mac's BBCR1 show titled 2Shy - a dreamy, delicate pop number guaranteed to get stuck in your head!

Following on from her hugely successful 2014, which saw her tracks Touch and Indecision become practically overnight hits, SHURA is kicking off her year with a slightly more timid bang with 2Shy.

Premiering on ANNIE MAC's BBCR1 show this week, that alone shows just how much SHURA is on the international radar!

Declaring herself as the shyest of them all, this coy little track is delicate and gentle, with SHURA's breathy vocals flitting over 80's style pop production. Effortlessly putting pop music back in the good books, 2Shy is a classic pop song that seamlessly embeds itself in your head with it's contagious melody and extremely relatable lyrics.

Emotionally driven, SHURA follows forerunners like ROBYN with her infectious and passionate tracks, but also encompasses elements of r'n'b to give it a little extra depth. Her charming falsetto combined with the swelling synth lines and crisp yet soft percussion makes for a perfectly executed pop track, and although it's more suited to the winding down of a party, the good vibes of the chorus are still strong enough to keep things light and fun.

SHURA will be making multiple appearances at SXSW this month, followed by a slew of dates over the European festival circuit. A full length release is expected out later this year, which has got us excited to see what else we can hear from the rising star!
