Live Review: Crooked Colours ‘Another Way’

14 March 2015 | 1:58 pm | Caitlin Medcalf

Sweat It Out!'s Crooked Colours have just debuted a new single. Titled 'Another Way', its multi-instrumental, technicolour soundscape shows their prowess.

The Perth trio behind CROOKED COLOURS has been making an incredible splash. With their blend of masterful instrumentalism and crafty beats, they’ve taken this fusion genre to a new level.

It’s a sound that only a few could achieve, particularly as conventionally, guitar music and a live kit don’t tend to assimilate what dance music would expect. However, these guys do it so well, and the product is absolutely astounding.

Their latest single ‘Another Way’ is out through Sweat It Out! and showcases exactly this.

Highlighted and made most imperative during the track however, are the stunning and brooding vocals. I think these are particularly characteristic of CROOKED COLOURS’ sound, along with big, digital sweeps forefronting the synthesized portion of their music.

It’s almost a ballad, but I think it comes across as an ode more than anything. It’s a loved up track fuelled by this incredible niche sound CROOKED COLOURS have harnessed.

‘Another Way’ is further proof that these boys are up to huge things, and 2015 is only going to be bigger for them. We look forward to their next release with high anticipation.
