Live Review: Bok Bok & Sweyn Jupiter 'Papaya Lipgloss' (Sour Mix)

Bok Bok and Sweyn Jupiter team up for 'Papaya Lipgloss' to be released March 17th as a double A side - Club Mix and Sour Mix

Ever-evolving BOK BOK has teamed up with SWEYN JUPITER to release a double A side of their track Papaya Lipgloss. Featuring a Club Mix and a Sour Mix, the duo are doing things the only way they know how, and the results are incredibly exciting!

Being the executive producer of NIGHT SLUGS, it goes without saying that BOK BOK is one innovative artist, and by employing the talents of keyboardist SWEYN JUPITER, the outcome is exactly that. By releasing the track with one side for in the club with your friends, and one side for the bedroom alone with your headphones, the two mixes of Papaya Lipgloss show not only different sides of the track, but different sides of the artists as well.

The Club Mix of Papaya Lipgloss is pretty self explanatory - thumping bass, electro funk and even a touch of Baltimore club vibes going on with the constant "what, what, what" samples. However, it's the Sour Mix that is my favourite. Sparse and light, this mix sees the duo take a step back with the track.

Focussing heavily on samples as well as JUPITER's keyboard prowess, it's unpredictable and interesting as the track quickly snaps to a different direction. It's a total jam, smooth and laid back, but also playful in it's random components.

Papaya Lipgloss is the follow up to BOK BOK's Your Charismatic Self EP, and his various collaborations with KELELA and although this is SWEYN JUPITER's first official release, here's hoping it's not his last! Papaya Lipgloss is out March 17!
