EROL ALKAN is a name that has become synonymous with gritty, darker UK dance music. After a string of high-profile remixes (TAME IMPALA, HOT CHIP), and becoming label-head at PHANTASY SOUND, his reputation now precedes him as a notable name in the London club scene.

However, with his most recent release being a FabricLive Mix packed full of originals for the public to enjoy, another name has know entered the scene after jumping on remix duties. KAMERA's take on ALKAN's Sub Conscious is a droning, high intensity number that is showing big things for the unknown producers.

KAMERA is the most recent signing to Phantasy Sound, and after hearing this remix of Sub Conscious it's no wonder why. The thumping, powerful rendition takes Sub Conscious out of the main room and even further underground.

Starting off with a wall of droning sounds, the beat kicks in below static feedback. More beats kick in as synths begin to shimmer across, and things start to get more intense. The formidable drone fades in and out as each layer is introduced, as the bass drum keeps thumping. The layering in this track, seemingly simplistic on first listen, is intricate and cohesive as they intertwine towards the end to make the wall even bigger, before fading out to nothing.

This remix was released alongside another by Vienna's TIN MAN, which sees the track head in a techno/classic house direction. The differences between this one and the intense wall of sound KAMERA has made both for the same track are immense, yet work well alongside each other and the pulsing original.

Little else is known about KAMERA, but that won't be the case for long with this remix out now. Having now being signed to Phantasy Sound, this suggests some of ALKAN's studio skills are rubbing off on the newcomer. Hopefully we'll be hearing more from KAMERA in the not too distant future!
