Live Review: LISTEN: Erol Alkan 'Bang'

Although we feel that we don't really have to say much more about this one, as the above statement kind of tells it all! But we're going to anyway... Producer extraordinaire/Phantasy Sound label head - UK's Erol Alkan, has just announced his debut EP, and we all get to enjoy the lead single from it, 'Bang'.

Alkan is one of the most intriguing and special guys in the worldwide electronic scene, not only does he manage to create massive electro collaborations with people, he also has remixed the likes of Tame Impala, Klaxons, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and more, as well as producing released from people like Connan Mockasin and Late Of The Pier. And I guess leading Phantasy to release amazing albums! So when you hear that he's on the brink of releasing his own EP, you know it's going to be good.

'Bang' comes out of nowhere, as Alkan has never actually released a solo track before, so it's very welcome to hear this driving electro track. With a driving bassline that takes us back to 2005 whilst reminding us of every remix he's ever made, this techno flavoured track is exploding with acid styled samples and rolling percussion.

It's one hell of a debut, and we expect there to a couple more amazing tracks on the EP.

The Illumination EP is due out on limited edition vinyl in late November and digitally on December 2nd 2013 via Phantasy Sound.
