Where I Swarm: Antony & Cleopatra On East London

6 November 2014 | 1:00 pm | Cheryl Billman

British movers-and-shakers Antony & Cleopatra (the vocals behind some of 2014 most infectious tracks) give us their guide to East London's best spots.

By now you know that our flirtation with JACK DANIEL’S HONEY has turned into a full-blown romance and it’s getting kind of serious. That has a lot to do with the fact that they’re helping us bring you the ultimate guides to locales around the world from seven of the music industry’s most exciting acts and tastemakers.

Together with JD Honey, we’ve set out to find out where top talent dines, dances and dates. Today, we’re giving you a guide to London – East London, specifically – from two people who ought to know. After all, what’s more innately British than a duo named for a William Shakespeare tragedy? Literally nothing

We’ve developed a soft spot for these two here at Purple Sneakers after they appeared on some of the year’s most beloved dance tracks from producers like Beni, Lancelot and Sammy Bananas – all while working on their debut album. Of course, we can’t be sure what 2015 will bring, but we’re predicting big things to come and we’re excited to hear more sultry, velvety vocals and infectious hooks.

Without further ado about nothing (sorry…), we’re proud to bring you the ultimate guide to London movers-and-shakers, ANTHONY & CLEOPATRA.

WHERE WE DRINK: Ridley Road Market Bar (Dalston)

This bar is an old rum shack situated in the middle of Dalston's most intriguing market. We used to DJ there once a month playing odd disco and early 90's bangers.”

WHERE WE EAT: Fingers Crossed (Stoke Newington)

Mostly at this cafe which is around the corner from the studio. They have the best chefs, local produce and they always play obscure music a little too loud. Perfect.”

Wet-Sounds

WHERE WE RELAX: London Fields Lido (Hackney)

One of the best pools that I've swum in. The water is warm, clear and crisp. There's always a few French girls in the fast lane to keep me motivated.”

WHERE WE PARTY: Oval Space (Bethnal Green)

Oval Space is a warehouse loft which hosts wicked parties. On the rare occasion it's warm you can go onto the terrace for a panoramic view of the east end sunset.”

WHERE WE IMPRESS A DATE: Mezcaleria Quiquiriqi (Hoxton)

Situated incognito in the basement of a Turkish restaurant, is the Mezcal Bar on Hackney Road. I love Tequila so its the perfect place to get sozzled with someone sexy.”

WHERE WE CREATE: Studio XXVII

At our studio of choice, Studio XXVII. We've had a big year doing the A&C record; plus, Blue (who runs it with Alex) made the new Kindness record, some Blood Orange and loads of other tracks.”

To celebrate what draws a crowd, Jack Daniel’s Honey is giving you the chance to win a weekend away for you and your mates. All you have to do is tell us in 25 words or less, where you and your mates like to swarm to and our favourite answer will be sipping their next Jack Honey & Dry in a beach house at Byron Bay!
