UNDR ctrl Presents Strictly Vinyl 003 ft. Sampology & More

UNDR ctrl are a creative music agency, touring and events company based in Sydney. They’ve put on some energetic stuff over the years, and are well known for their apt for partying and a good time.

They began putting on these Strictly Vinyl parties to promote the roots of dance, i.e. basically, one huge turntable disco. They’ve got SAMPOLOGY, MARCUS KING & KATO to dig out into their vinyl collections, pick some of the hottest discs and put on a set that excludes all laptops and USBs.

An interesting format that’s unfortunately tended to die out over the last few years in favour of USB sticks, using vinyl as the main source of sound used to be huge. It’s really cool to see UNDR ctrl bringing back the way it used to be. Particularly with these incredibly talented artists at hand.

Brisbane’s SAMPOLOGY has become a real pioneer for the audio-visual scene in Aus, what with creating remix videos of the likes of BEYONCE and MAJOR LAZER. Aside from the visual madness, he’s also globally made a name for himself on stages abroad.

Splendour in the Grass and Big Day Out have seen his prowess back home, however overseas has seen him play the likes of SXSW, Tropfest and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. His latest track features the vocals of DANIEL MERRIWEATHER, and incorporates a tropical piano line with the upbeat percussive tendencies.

KATO will be warming up the floor on the night, and he’s a definite shoe in for a monstrous set, what with his experience as a part of FBi Radio’s ‘Sunsets’ over the past 7 years.

MARCUS KING will be heading up the closing set, and will be bringing his intensifying sounds of funk and all sounds to make you move. They’ll all be playing exclusive 2 hour sets, no laptops, no USBs, and it’s free entry.

Head on down to The Cliff Dive in Darlinghurst on the 5th of October (part of the long weekend) to check out these rare and offbeat appearances.
