Live Review: Bent Denim 'Cavalcade' (Official Video)

3 June 2014 | 7:30 pm | Hannah Galvin

Bent Denim have released the clip to 'Cavalcade' that features as the last track off their debut EP titled Epistolary.

Two guys, two cities, one band. Ben Littlejohn and Dennis Sager make up lo-fi "nightmare pop" duo BENT DENIM - an outfit who have not only been announced to support Young & Sick on his American tour, but also are a band who've released the clip to their debut EP's final track, 'Cavalcade'.

It would be lazy to pronounce the dream-pop sensibilities of this track as 'blissful'. Through the dark, synth-work acting as a large, heavy blanket laid on top of the slow drumbeat against the lonesome, bedroom vocals, 'Cavalcade'  emotionally nurtures a thick haze of emptiness which ironically is what allows the track substance. Represented by a montage of 90s family home videos (sewn together by their beholder Will Taylor), there's a sense of nostalgia and possible fear of "growing up" at play due to the amount of childhood memories that have been captured and applied to this sequence.

'Cavalcade' comes off Bent Denim's debut EP Epistolary that can be purchased both physically and digitally for a very low price over at their BANDCAMP. The Epistolary EP features artwork from music/art project Young & Sick who has invited Bent Denim along to his 15-date US tour taking place over this June and July.
