Live Review: Groundislava 'October Acid'

23 June 2014 | 4:51 pm | Lauren Payne

Groundislava has just released the second single from his upcoming EP.

GROUNDISLAVA is a wonderful producer who definitely has a knack for making people dance. With his third album having no release date as of yet, we've luckily got his new EP to keep us company until it emerges.

GROUNDISLAVA has been mainly churning out remixes recently with his reworks of CITY CALM DOWN, RUFUS and CHVRCHES, but it'll  be the new originals on his Feel The Heat EP that will soar above his previous work. The EP features four brand new tracks and  today we have one of them, 'October Acid', to groove along to.

The track is very atmospheric beginning with light percussion that sound remarkably like clap sticks. Twisting synths soon fade into the mix and the clap stick-percussion is transformed into a light beat created by drum machines. Light house synths float in and out of the track with soft, echoing vocals soaring above it all  like ghosts. 'October Acid' is a very rich piece that captures an essence of freedom. This is probably because the whole thing moves like smoke through the air; soft and with complete ease.

'October Acid' will be featured on GROUNDISLAVA's Feel The Heat EP which is now available for pre-order on iTunes. The piece will also be featured on the new album which is to be called Frozen Throne. Both the EP and LP will be released through Friends Of Friends internationally and WEDIDIT in the US.
