Live Review: Little Dragon 'Klapp Klapp' (Nosaj Thing Remix) ft. Future

16 May 2014 | 11:56 am | Lauren Payne

Nosaj Thing has remixed Little Dragon's track 'Klapp Klapp' before his appearance at this year's Circo Festival.

LITTLE DRAGON have come out into the world catching your eye and your ears the instant they play their first chords. 'Paris' was a banger of a track and got the act pushed even more into the electronic spotlight, which we are ever so happy about because it means we can hear more of their tunes.

'Klapp Klapp' was a track that came out not long before 'Paris', with an accompanying video. The track was equally as popular and now has been remixed by producer NOSAJ.

'Klapp Klapp' has a very steady beat of hand claps charging it though it's 4 minutes. With singer Yukimi Nagano's high vocals soaring over the entire track, she brings even more light to the upbeat track and the shimmering synths that appear mid-track make her voice sound all the more magical. 'Klapp Klapp' is one track that mixes digital samples and sweet melodies well and now that it has been remixed, you are probably left wondering if the same blend will appear?

Well you're in luck because the blend does appear, with a few added extras. Nagano's vocals still sound as sweet as they did in the original mix and those hand claps are still jumping on through 'Klapp Klapp' only at a different pace and different points. The vocals have also been rearranged and the remix and with NOSAJ receiving help from rapper FUTURE, the remix has a new element that you may not have expected to appear in a LITTLE DRAGON track.

FUTURE's verse comes in mid-track, as rap verses usually do, and it actually suits the dynamic of the song quite well. Rappers who can sing with the right pitch a few and FUTURE annihilates his verse with his distorted vocals and quick singing sentences that are right on the money.

Overall NOSAJ's remix stays very true to the original and mainly just rearranges some things that seem to work just as well in their new place. the producer will be playing Perth's Circo Festival this year which will be a great chance to see what this guy can do live.
