Live Review: LISTEN: StéLouse ‘Joyride’

Denver-based producer STÉLOUSE, or “Stay Loose” if accents aren’t particularly your thing, has this way with teleporting sounds from alternate-past dimensions and mashing them up to create this super fusion of sounds.

The newest track from the 80’s revivalist titled ‘Joyride,’ sees essentially, this collection of drops and sub-fusions of different elements. The EP, ‘The City’ of which ‘Joyride’ is on, is out on the 19^th of May, via DIEHIGH Records.

Opening with tinkering hints of trap, and surging further through this sub-80’s revival, colourful synths splash the excessive cymbals, and furthermore, heighten to first drop into a pool of shiny melodies and watery bass lines. The introduction of a percussive element, particularly sounding like a wooden block or something of the kind, forces the song to progress, and literally feel like a joyride.

STÉLOUSE has this way of making something big out of tiny sounds, and I think it’s the simplicity of the tones that forcefully comes together for this almighty package of sound, beats and melodies.
