Live Review: WATCH: Chvrches 'Tightrope' (Janelle Monae Cover)
Chvrches have performed a wonderful cover of Janelle Monae's track 'Tightrope'.
CHRVCHES performed a wonderful cover at Billboard's Women In Music Event back in December 2013, it has now surfaced on the internet for all to see.
The band have a very unique style of electronic dance that they pair wonderfully with singer Lauren Mayberry's sweet angelic vocals. When they take on an R'n'B and jazz mix-up like JANELLE MONAE's track 'Tightrope', you wonder what the outcome might be.
At the beginning of the video, Mayberry addresses MONAE herself and says "I hope you like it and if you don't like it, please pretend you do", luckily you can see that pretty much everyone in that giant room loved the cover as smile spread across every face.

The original version of JANELLE MONAE's 'Tightrope' is full of big horns. Trumpets, saxophones and other such instruments burst everywhere and with MONAE's vocals you can hear the clear and masterful mix of big band and R'n'B. CHVRCHES' cover completely throws that idea out the window and perform 'Tightrope' the only way they can, with strong sliding synths and distorted guitar to create an atmospheric masterpiece.
St Jerome's Laneway Festival will play host to the Glasgow group this year when they come down our end and 'Tightrope' may or may not be in the set, but at least we have this video to revel in.
