Live Review: LISTEN: CHVRCHES 'Lies' (World's End Press Remix)

22 November 2013 | 6:30 pm | Lauren Payne

World's End Press have released a remix for Chvrches single 'Lies' and it's an industrial dream.

CHVRCHES' 'Lies' is originally a very sweet and spacey mix but WORLD'S END PRESS have added in some crunch, making the sweetness from the track completely disappear.

When explaining the new remix, John Parkinson of WORLD'S END PRESS told Faster Louder:

I was getting Gary Numan vibes from the sound of the polysynth in the original and was going for a Gary Numan-meets-bass, deep house feel." Well they definitely hit that nail on the head.

The twirling synths keep the original intergalactic aura alive before being drowned out by a deep bass line and a series of twangs and beats that completely turn 'Lies' into a moody burst of electronica.

The vocals have been slightly distorted and muffled, not to the point where singer Lauren Mayberry's voice is unrecognisable, but she is quieter and sounds quite ghostly. The layers of the remix are fantastic and although they have taken 'Lies' into a completely new direction, WORLD'S END PRESS have definitely made a wonderful end product.

The remix apart of CHVRCHES new Lies Remix EP. It will featured adaptations from BLOOD DIAMONDS, TOURIST, THUMPERS and JUNIOR SANCHEZ as well as this little kicker.
