Live Review: LISTEN: Hey Geronimo 'Lazer Gun Show'

19 August 2013 | 11:58 am | Tom Hutchins

The latest Hey Geronimo single 'Lazer Gun Show' has just been released and it's already taking off in a big way.

Brisbane seems to just have a wealth of insanely talented people residing in the city, especially when talking indie-pop music. You've got dudes like Jeremy Neale, Bleeding Knees Club, Last Dinosaurs, Dune Rats and more taking their different styles of pop across the country. We feel the next act to hit it big from Brisvegas is HEY GERONIMO.

Now it's not because this top-end 4 piece are brand new to the scene, it's because their latest single 'Lazer Gun Show' has just been released and is already taking off in a big way. It seems Hey Geronimo are ready to fight for indie supremacy with the title track from the band’s upcoming sophomore EP (out October 4) - as it is a real festival-styled anthem.

The track brings out the guitars in a way the band haven't before, with sharp stadium rock riffs cementing the band’s credentials as one of the most innovative and quirky purveyors of indie in Australia today. Whilst the massive chanting chorus vocals allow for the instrumentals to still drive the track and still give punters something to really sing along to.

'Lazer Gun Show' is just another notch on Hey Geronimo's belts for 2013, as it backs up a massive past 8 months for the band. They've already scoured the country with Strange Talk and 90s indie legends Presidents of the USA, with their. Plus, their debut EP hit the top 100 on the US CMJ College Radio charts with an invitation to play at the annual CMJ Festival later this year.

So it looks like the time is now to jump on the Hey Geronimo bandwagon, so catch a stream of the track below and download it for free over at their Bandcamp.

If you're looking to catch the guys live they'll be  heading out for their third major tour of the year happening this month, this time in support of Pluto Jonze. The tour will end with a hometown performance at Australia's premier music showcase, BIGSOUND, on the coveted Bakery Lane stage.
