Live Review: Sit back, relax and unwind with Joyride

JOYRIDE is one of those artists that we all know and love. From his work in One Day and The Meeting Tree, to his DJ sets, his genuine nature, and ear for making damn good songs, the guy is a local legend through and through.

Having recently dropped a solo single, 'Kings & Queens,' that serves as the latest shot fired at Sydney's lockout laws, this track is the first of what we're hoping is many more to come as he gears up for a solo release later this year. “I wrote this on a day where I was feeling particularly upset about how the powers that be are hamstringing our culture, vibrancy and diversity,"  Joyride said recently of his new single. "Fuck them. A community derives its worth from the entire sum of itself, not just the self-appointed top tier. If you come for our happiness, why can't we come for yours? I was particularly cross that day, I guess."

To get to know him a little better, we asked Joyride to put together a playlist for us. His theme of choice was "Songs I like to listen to when I smoke weed with my gf," and he's chosen some absolute gems. So, sit back, relax and chill the fuck out with Joyride.

Son Little - Lay Down

Pretty song, perfect soundtrack for convincing your significant other to roll up.

Aldous Harding- What If Birds Aren't Singing They're Screaming

Normally we rock with the album version, this live version has proven to be pretty distracting.

Kylie Minogue- I Believe In You (Abbey Road Version)

Kylie Minogue is the great unifier. Maybe.

Rex Orange County- Sunflower

Only issue with this song is that it'll prob make you wanna ditch the playlist and listen to all his other songs.

The Carpenters- Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary Craft

If you decided to stick with the playlist, this is one hell of a payoff (and a great doobie conversation starter).

Jelani Blackman - Not You

Post-Carpenters wind down.

AOE - I'm Right This Time

The song where you sit in euphoric silence before going to bed.
