Beloved Melbourne beatmaker and techno-pop slayer SIMONA has released the title track ‘Triumph’ off of her upcoming new EP.

Beloved Melbourne beatmaker and techno-pop slayer SIMONA has released the title track ‘Triumph’ off of her upcoming new EP.

The multi-talented musician, DJ and producer gifts beat-driven and emotionally textured electronic expressions, positioning her unique sounds in the dividing spaces between euphoria, desolation and aggression and are held together by narratives of nonconformity, queer cities, gender and relationships.

Following on from her 2016 album #TriggerWarning40, ‘Triumph’ and its ensuing Extended Play is a resolute adjustment in mood from Simona Castricum, who efficaciously portrays this shift in ethos in her music’s evolution.

This leading single features guest vocals by Cultra and is an immersive new direction for SIMONA, unifying her diverse experience across stage, percussion and club modes to produce an inspiring, rhythmic and uplifting hit.

‘Triumph’ opens with a hypnotising blend of oscillating synth tones and exotic percussion, with heavier trance infused beats ensuing to take the reins and lead the listener on an enthralling pilgrimage through mesmerising soundscapes. It is crystal clear from this captivating amalgamation of style and sound that SIMONA has a wealth of experience and understanding in the music and themes that drive her creativity, with her talent incandescently radiating through every minute of this tune.

The full Triumph EP is set to hold bold remixes and darker excursions into the club space and includes collaborations with Aérea Negrot (Hercules & Love Affair) on a more brutal arrangement of  ‘Triumph’ and Melbourne’s Various Asses on ‘Breakfast of Champions’, leaving SIMONA to dive into pure techno bliss in ‘Collect’ on the B-Side.

Triumph will be released digitally on 17 July through with a 12” Vinyl scheduled for 15 September via LISTEN Records.

SIMONA has opened for major acts including Cut Copy, Midnight Juggernauts and PNAU and is a festival veteran, so we’re pretty stoked she'll be touring nationally through September and October with support from Paradise. There are no venue details yet, but you can stay in the loop via SIMONA’s Facebook.

You can also catch her with NULL and other special guests for free performance at Northcote Social Club on 17 July.

With her performances being described as “cardio-electronic percussive events of shared catharsis and self-confrontation; a one-woman industrial rave delivered through drums, smoke haze and laser beams,” it is certainly going to be a very good time!
