Live Review: Love n Lerrone inject house spirit into Le Youth's 'If You're Leaving ft. Sydnie'

Brooklyn house duo, Love n Lerrone deliver delicious re-work of pop Le Youth's pop single 'If You're Leaving' featuring Sydnie.

Brooklyn based duo LOVE N LERRONE slow it down with their delicious house re-work of LE YOUTH's single, 'If You're Leaving'. The remix comes as a follow up to their debut single 'Vybe Right,' an instant house classic featuring the unmistakable vocal stylings of RnB icon MARY J. BLIGE.

Love n Lerrone's take on the tune is a noticeably more down tempo than the original, which is much more pop in it's flavour. Almost starting from scratch with their interpretation, Love n Lerrone breath a whole new life into 'If You're Leaving.' The core elements that drive the remix are simple, a slow-burning but pulsating baseline built around electronic percussion. But simple doesn't always mean basic; there's an unequivocal sophistication about the style and production of this remix. SYDNIE's whispery vocal is almost hypnotic, weaving in and out and layered across the highly stylised electronic backup vocal. The electronic elements are all looped together with ease, and imbue a understated elegance.

Love n Lerrone continue to raise the bar with their incredibly relaxed yet polished approach to house music. There are so many samples and sounds available online, so it's refreshing to see a simplistic and toned down approach to production.
