Live Review: Le Youth's newest "If You're Leaving" is a new summer classic

12 December 2016 | 2:39 pm | Steve Copp

LA producer WES JAMES aka LE YOUTH has joined forces with LA upcomer SYDNIE to produce what could be one of the most uplifting house tracks of the summer.

LA producer WES JAMES aka LE YOUTH has returned with the antidote to all summertime sadness in 'If You're Leaving'. If you've ever danced a December night away, then the odds are the soundtrack to those memories were scored by the likes of Le Youth and fellow house grandmasters.

James manipulates his sonics in perfect harmony with a soothing vocal performance by another LA local. Deep house sounds fill up the atmosphere, with lush piano chords filtered through layers upon layers of stimulants for you to try and process, while LA upcomer SYDNIE tells the story of almost everyone's past summers with rich vocals and a soulful majesty.

Love and sometimes loneliness often creep into these summer narratives. There's either something in the air, or the pure beauty of the music created by the mastery of artists like LE YOUTH. Whatever it is, it can have you manifest those lonely vibes each moment you aren't listening to the song you've attached to each unforgettable summer memory.

This track is no different to those summer bangers that have pulled us through what seems endless periods of party. James holds true to the sounds of all previous powers of house music, however, there is also an element of evolution to his claim for house track of the summer. An old style with a brand new feel.

Le Youth and Sydnie have created a house masterpiece of epic proportions. A house track that could hold its own in any summer hotspot. Even the most Elitist of 'pure' music enthusiasts can take away a good feeling from this piece of deep house genius, featuring a glorious vocal performance blended with James' audio expertise. This offers a detailed decay of modern-disco; a track filled with good vibes and one that has been sculpted for nothing but good times with good people. I can see many a shape cut to this fresh new sound.

Le Youth leaves little left to say after listening, but one obvious comment to be made: this delicious house blessing should be played at every summer party from here on. Enjoy!
