28 August 2015 | 9:30 am | Madeline Kilby

Having locked himself away in the studio so far for 2015 GRMM is back out in the light of day with his latest release ‘Die Young’ featuring Wild Eyed Boy

Straight out of Sydney GRMM, formally known as Benn Markos, had a very busy debut year in 2014, from claiming a spot in the 50 most played songs on Triple J with ‘Electrify’, to finishing the year with Falls Festival. Having locked himself away in the studio so far for 2015 he is back out in the light of day with his latest release ‘Die Young’ featuring Wild Eyed Boy.

‘Die Young’ is the title track for GRMM’s upcoming second EP. Teaming up with UK vocalist Wild Eyed Boy, this track gives an inkling to the exciting future of Australian electronic music. GRMM himself as progressed as a producer, stepping away from his ‘bedroom producer’ persona (which is arguably an important historical step for most Australian electronica) to something more refined.

Forming a rich sound, Wild Eyed Boy’s vocals compliment the layered sound created by GRMM, reminding us that sunshine is just around the corner with the warm summer time vibes the track exudes. ‘Die Young’ seems to have something for everyone with hints of soulful R’n’B and house music combined with synths and bass that remind you that this is ultimately a work of electronic production prowess, that beautifully collaborates with the vocals, rather than a track that is simply about the vocals, or just the sound.

The 6 track Die Young EP will feature many more smooth and eclectic collaborations with the likes of Erin Marshall, Yasmin and Father Dude all playing a part. It is out September 25, you can pre-order it on iTunes and get ‘Die Young’ as an instant grat.
