Live Review: WATCH: Woodkid 'The Golden Age' (Teaser Video)

4 December 2013 | 12:00 am | Hannah Galvin

Woodkid has released a short teaser video of the title track to his debut album The Golden Age.

Yoann Lemoine is not only a highly regarded music video director, he's an impressive musician too. Known under the name WOODKID, he's released two EPs, followed by his debut record The Golden AgeWoodkid has just given his audience a short video teaser of his next clip; one that deserves your utmost attention.

Painted in black and white, we observe with mixed emotions what appears to be an underprivileged family. Focusing on the young boy present, we view his youth and laughter as he spends time happily with those around him, as well as his deep thought process during periods spent alone. Fixing a careful eye on what the clip represents, we note gorgeous symbolism that is happening in the clip, acknowledging the endlessness of land and freedom of flight; potentially implying the gift of opportunity.

Although this is a teaser video, the exploration of human emotion is definitely apparent, and is greeted with breathtaking cinematography and a sombre orchestral backdrop. With the year 2014 filling the screen to close the clip, it seems as though we're going to have to wait and see how this beautiful piece of art unfolds.
