Live Review: LISTEN: Captain Murphy 'Between Villains' ft. Viktor Vaughn, Earl Sweatshirt & Thundercat

Jezus man, have you ever seen such a lineup of hip-hop and beats geniuses all collaborating on the one track? You have? Well, let's just take some time out and prove you wrong, shall we?
Firstly, let's dissect this lineup of collaborators. The leader of this track is, CAPTAIN MURPHY, or as most of you will know him - the rapping alter ego of Flying Lotus.
He managed to grab a hold of three massive artists to help out here, obviously you know Earl Sweatshirt and hopefully you know frequent Flylo collaborator, Thundercat. But did you know that Viktor Vaughn is in fact the alter ego of the big dog himself - DOOM. So once again, take a look at that lineup. Flylo, Sweatshirt, Thundercat and DOOM... fuck.

The track itself is the second thing we'll look at. It's called 'Between Villains' and is the 11th track in this year's installment of Adult Swim's Singles Series. Flylo was a part of last year's series and with the help of Sweatshirt and his own alter-ego, he released the stunning 'Between Friends'. This is the sequel if you will, and it's not the kind of sequel you'd see in the bargain bin at your local DVD store. This is a straight up blockbuster.
It's one hell of a dark experience, the beats, samples and whirling synths are insanely dark and a low-key guitar and chimes add for an extremely creepy atmosphere. But what really takes the cake are the aggressive and deep vocals produced by all 3 rappers, each verse blends beautifully into the next as each rapper takes you into their own world.
