American rapper Kid Cudi has been locked in to perform for this weekend’s second round at Coachella.

A surprise addition to the California festival, Coachella confirmed Kid Cudi’s appearance in an announcement revealing this weekend’s timetable. Kid Cudi will perform from 5:10 until 5:50 pm on the Sahara stage.

Coachella teased his return by captioning an Instagram post, “On the pursuit of happiness.” The rapper then confirmed his performance on his own Instagram account.

Kid Cudi’s performance at Coachella this weekend marks his first appearance at the festival since 2019. His surprise show follows last weekend’s late addition of Vampire Weekend, who won’t perform on weekend two.

Earlier this year, Kid Cudi hinted at announcing his first tour of Australia since 2012. He dropped the teaser on X (formerly Twitter) after a fan shared a photo of the star in a suit and a cigarette in his mouth. The fan, referencing Cudi’s latest album, Insano, asked if we’d see the Insano tour down under.

In response, Kid Cudi quote-tweeted his fan and wrote, “This might be one of the flyest photos of me. Tom Ford suit, cigarette, so rock n rollie. Yes ill be comin to aussie town and yes we will fuckin have the BEST time”.

His tweet follows another post he made last April when a different fan asked if Kid Cudi would tour Australia in support of Insano. He answered, “Im def comin next tour on everything, im comin. Promise. New Zealand too. I got yall”.

Kid Cudi’s most recent album features an absolutely stacked 21-song tracklist with numerous guest vocalists, including Travis Scott, DJ Drama, A$AP Rocky, Lil Yachty, Pharrell Williams, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, and the late XXXTentacion. It’s his longest studio album to date.

With the release of Insano, Kid Cudi completed his contractual obligations with Republic Records, thus making him an independent artist for the first time in nearly two decades.

It could also be his final album, as he hinted in 2022 that he’s “nearing the end” of his music career and plans to explore other creative avenues.
