Sydney promoter and agency Fruit Bowl trades club nights for focaccia during lockdown
We’ve done lots of complaining about how absolutely cooked Australia’s handling of COVID-19 has been in the past couple of months, so we are very glad today to be supporting a feel good, silver lining story out of Sydney/Warrane’s current lockdown. Fruit Bowl is a booking agency and promotion company, specialising in underground dance music. Their roster is incredible, featuring a whose who of Sydney dance music, including Ben Fester, Bobby Vibe Positive, Honey Point, Freda & Jackson, Ivy, Niku and heaps more. The organisation started earlier this year, and despite COVID’s chaos has quickly run to the upper echelons of club nights in Sydney.
Fruit Bowl has hosted multiple sold out events at Civic Underground and The Landsdowne alike, with talent from the roster aswell as hosting the likes of DJ Scorpion, Adi Toohey, Ciara and Merph. They’ve become parties not to be missed on Sydney’s nightlife roster, based not just off elegant curation but also consistently strong vibe and diversity. However, with Sydney currently in lockdown, owner and founder Daniel Hundt has turned to a new way to support the business and also the stomachs of Sydney locals.
Operating at a pay what you want service, Hundt has been delivering Focaccia around Sydney/Warrane’s inner suburbs to club goers, DJs and dance heads. On Instagram, he posted, “If you’d like to be added hit the DM’s for a loaf. Pay what you can/will and trades definitely welcome. I like many in music have lost all my income so any little bit helps. Stay saner than me in the house, we’ll be out in no time friends.”
It’s a wholesome story connecting people through now a different medium of art, baking. Based on a personal experience Hundt’s Focaccia is to die for, so get in before he goes completely viral. It’s also important to note the deliveries are all within a 10km radius and deliveries are completely contactless.
