Ange McCormack said what all young people in Australia have been thinking last night on Triple J Hack to the Australian Prime Minister.

Ange McCormack said what all young people in Australia have been thinking last night on Triple J Hack to the Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison. They discussed everything from the vaccine rollout for young people, youth allowance and dodgy access to COVID disaster payments. For the first time throughout the pandemic it felt like our issues as youth had been heard, with someone finally acknowledging our struggles to the most powerful man in the country. Bravo Ange McCormack!

In the interview SCOMO admitted he's "not happy" with the vaccination program in Australia. Tension built most when McCormack asked him about when young people will be able to access Pfizer. Deflecting the question she repeated it and he deflected.

Scott Morrison began replying to the initial question stating “I will say a couple things about that, the first is we’re now getting a million doses administered”. After multiple interruptions urging Morrison to answer, he stated "Well, right now they can get vaccinated right now with AstraZeneca". But of course, the AstraZeneca vaccine has not been recommended for young people by medical authorities.

Eventually he stated, "In September, that’s when it’s designed for people under the age of 40 to get access to Pfizer." He admitted the vaccine rollout was at approximately 2 months behind where he wanted it to be.

They continued to discuss why people on Youth Allowance were not able to access COVID disaster payments, when much of the reason they may be on Youth Allowance was due to the pandemic. Pretty logical if you ask us. To it, he responded that Covid Disaster payments weren’t designed to replace someone’s income.
