Clairo is one of the worlds best songwriters. Having evolved from bedroom pop star to her widely critically acclaimed debut album ‘Immunity’, she’s gearing up to release her most mature an intimate body of work to date, announcing ‘Sling’ out on the 16th of July. From it, she’s released ‘Blouse’ premiering with an acoustic performance of the track on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The track is an evolution from the indie alt-pop that defined her debut effort, channeling its personal tones in a stripped back tone channelling extremely intimate narrative songwriting.

‘Sling’ is impeccable. Minimal in nature, the track combines solely an acoustic guitar with grandiose string lines, laying the perfect platform for Clairo’s softly delivered, yet powerful vocal. She’s taken her great diary worthy stories to a new level on the record, delivering a devilishly sharp commentary about an intimate relationship. The track’s lyrics are emotionally destructive. “Why do I tell you how I feel/When you’re just looking down my blouse.”/“If touch could make them hear, then touch me now.” The track touches on extreme attempts of validation at the level of contemplating to compromise part of yourself.

Written in up state New York at Allair Studio’s the forthcoming album ‘Sling’ was co-produced by Clairo and Golden Globe/GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Jack Antonoff. Alongside the announcement of the album, in addition to FADER Label, she has since signed a worldwide deal with esteemed label giants Republic Records.
