Live Review: Middle Name Dance Band announce new music + two special shows to celebrate

22 March 2021 | 4:06 pm | Emma Jones

Middle Name Dance Band have announced two special shows to celebrate the release of their forthcoming new two-track, 'Lovers Featuring'.

Meanjin/Brisbane and Naarm/Melbourne based trio Middle Name Dance Band are set to release a brand new single this week by the name of Lovers Featuring. Following on from the release of Middle Name Dance Tracks Vol.2 in 2020, this new release will breathe new life into two of the songs from this release, and MNDB (comprised of Sampology, Sam Stosuur and Megan Christensen) have announced some shows to celebrate.

Lovers Featuring will include a new version of both 'Weekend Love Chant', and 'Love Bite', and will now feature Wallace and Natalie Slade respectively. The two-track release will drop on digital stores on Friday March 26, with pre-orders available on Bandcamp for a Limited Edition double A-side 7”.

As mentioned, MNDB will be bringing their newly reinvigorated releases to both Meanjin/Brisbane and Naarm/Melbourne. They'll be taking to Color Club with Natalie Slade on April 1st before they play Black Bear Lodge on April 15th. Slade will join them, as will First Beige's David Versace. Having been operating as a multi-city outfit for some time now, these shows serve as a special insight into the trio and how they've managed to remain creatively connected despite physical distance between them (Sampology resides in Meanjin, while Sam Stosuur and Megan Christensen live in Naarm).
