Live Review: PREMIERE: Lead heart by intuitive thought in Jet City Sports Club's 'Spinning Me Out'

8 February 2021 | 10:05 am | Hannah Galvin

Sydney four piece Jet City Sports Club mentor us through the dealings of emotional hardship with their second single, 'Spinning Me Out'.

Two singles deep, and Jet City Sports Club have quickly established a distinguishing edge through rhythmic curtains, approachable lyricism and an incredibly strong melodic motif.

Following up from their debut single 'Bloodhounds', the four-piece Sydney outfit offer their forthcoming September Sun EP's second musing 'Spinning Me Out', which we are very stoked to premiere for you here today.

We extend ourselves forward, reaching for the nonchalant bowed palm of Adam in a plight of desperate convenience; proud in our powerful stature to again gain from the will to give in this turbulent emotional cesspool. Though, despite the fruitful connection previously established and cultivated, a melancholy is instigated from our apathetic human; for Adam is tired, and no longer dependent on the work of transcendence.

Perhaps wild to compare the expiration of romance to Michelangelo's famous fresco piece, a mutually exclusive complex is expressed as the centrepiece in both works, as 'Spinning Me Out' practices maturity in a heart-versus-mind dealing.

A graceful attempt to the exit of disservice, our persona shadows unhealthy yearning with the drive to move on, appreciating that the love has not been lost, but rather asked to discontinue; all the while preserving the union's sacred sentiments and once beautiful existence.

Courageously shedding the skin of temptation through the acknowledgement of intuition, Jet City Sports Club remind us of our birthright to feel in 'Spinning Me Out', whilst assessing which stagnant chapters in life must close.

Jet City Sports Club will launch 'Spinning Me Out' live across two shows this Friday in Sydney at Waywards. Tickets have all been scooped up, so you best keep an eye out over here for more shows in the future!
