Best Albums of 2020 Artist Edition: Two People

This year, in addition to our own Best Songs of 2020 and Best Albums of 2020, we asked some of our favourite artists to tell us about their favourite releases of this year as well. Throughout a confusing and isolated year, music in particular has been a place of refuge for many, with the communities that surround this music becoming more important than ever. Here, we ask artists from various communities whom we love and admire to engage in the very reason we exist: sharing music.

From emerging artists to living legends, acts with cult followings to artists on the verge of truly breaking through, this series includes so many different people. Hip hop, dance, psych, rock, pop, electronic and much more, the genres and sounds in this series are as varied as the metaphorical pages of Purple Sneakers itself, and offer something for everyone no matter what your taste might be. We’re so thankful to all the artists who provided their own lists, and to the extensive communities we’re grateful to tell the stories of every day.

Building on their acclaim debut album, First Body, Two People released their eagerly anticipated Second Body in 2020. Created in isolation by choice, the duo created an album which is "definitively them, deliberate in its representation of that, and assertive in its self-actualisation," as we said at the time of its release. It's fun in parts, devastating in others, and soundtracks the pair as they step into the light more than ever before. Armed with an unbreakable trust between them, they seized on everything they’ve learned over the last decade and used it to their advantage to create a formidable second offering.

this came out like 2 days ago but wow it is WILD. go tay tay. the whole record feels like a journal.

Tame Impala - The Slow Rush

favourite tame album yet. it's so fun and so disco. yeah it's addictive.

Adrianne Lenker - Songs

this is a real moment. i mean, their music always is. but with this record it's like you're in the room and you can hardly handle it. it's pure. favourite track is 'not a lot, just forever'. the lyrics make me cry.

Haim - Women In Music Pt. III

this record is so exciting. makes me feel warm. they are actual living breathing rock gods. 'gasoline' !!!!
