Live Review: Pocketmoth releases new EP from Olympic Pool Maintenance League, 'The Calming Cloud'

18 November 2020 | 3:53 pm | Emma Jones

Brisbane legends Pocketmoth share their eighth release on their label in the form of a three-track EP from Olympic Pool Maintenance League.

Brisbane legends Pocketmoth have unleashed a brand new EP recently. Courtesy of multidisciplinary artist Chris Bennie under the moniker Olympic Pool Maintenance League, the sterling three-track EP titled The Calming Cloud is yet another shining example of the pristine taste of Pocketmoth and the burgeoning, overflowing talent pool in their city.

Meticulous sound design, minimalistic techno, hypnotic ambience and writhing polyrhythms create a stirring EP from start to finish, with Olympic Pool Maintenance League embarking on a gripping sonic journey. It's refined, considered and deeply emotive, with a steady and cautious approach to the production while still creating enough space to really get lost in.

Released via Pocketmoth and out in the world now, a limited edition release is also available purchase. The limited edition contains "10 varied loose-leaf prints, including one-off photographs, sketches, collages and a high-quality photo-print of 'A Likely Coalition' - the exhibition piece featured on the EP cover" according to the Bandcamp page.
