Rising Brisbane producer Health Club delivers another slam dunk of a single with the funk-driven new release, 'Different'.
Brisbane's Health Club (Lucas Reid) set himself a pretty high bar indeed earlier this year with his Foley-featuring bop, 'Way Too Long'. Releasing the single back in July, it was the first time we'd heard from him in a while, but he more than proved the wait was worth it. Now, he's doubling down with yet another glimmering new single titled 'Different', showing there is still plenty more we haven't seen from him while exploring new sonic territory in his ever-evolving sonic palette.
Explaining the creation of his newest, Reid said, “This song was mostly written on a plane flight travelling home after visiting family. A good friend of mine had given me N.E.R.D’s deluxe album on vinyl for my birthday and I was locked in a very Pharrell place. The influences on this one range from tons of places like Lauryn Hill, SWV and Erykah Badu.”
Complete with an insatiable groove, stirring and warm atmospherics, cruisy keys and intricate percussion to get things really moving, Health Club creates the perfect foundation of shifting, funk-driven, RnB-influenced electronica for his guest vocalist to float above. The combination of the two makes for a summer-ready jam, and serves as yet another total slam dunk for the rising producer.
Out via Paces' Off Leash Records, Health Club has well and truly found his groove. We can't wait to hear more.
