PREMIERE: Chase Zera shares dance-ready single ‘Over Here’

Chase Zera

From her very first release (which premiered on Purple Sneakers) back in 2019 in the form of her self-assured pop single ‘Clovers’, Chase Zera continues to flex her dance-ready electronica, lush pop vocals, soul-bearing lyricism, and slick production. Effortlessly finding a middle ground between dance-pop music and introspective lyricism, this relative newcomer feels fully realised as she confidently shows audiences new sides to her enigmatic persona. With five tracks already under her belt exploring the many facets of life, Chase is back today as Purple Sneakers proudly premieres her latest dancefloor ready anthem ‘Over Here’ that will have you up and moving in no time.

Thrusting us onto the nearest dancefloor, ‘Over Here’ is immediately arresting as it pairs a propulsive beat with swirling electronica and a low-frequency bass. As Zera’s sultry vocals embellish this resounding pop track, catchy hooks begin to bounce about hypnotic house beats. Able to meld different styles of music throughout her musical production, this rising electronic queen has definitely produced an upbeat pop anthem that weaves emotion amidst pulsating dance energy. Staying true to her distinct sound whilst simultaneously exploring various genres and moods, ‘Over Here’ is incredibly likeable from the very first pulse of the synth to the echo of the final beat. Always wearing her heart on her leave, Chase Zera explores the various stages of heartbreak, choosing to focus on the brighter side of moving on which resonates with her on a personal level, channelling the pure euphoria and liberation you feel once you finally move on from someone you once loved.

Talking about the meaning behind the track Chase Zera said, “‘Over Here’ is about the exact moment you realise you’re going to be fine after going through heartbreak. I wanted to make a song that floated along unapologetically because that’s what I felt like I was doing the moment that painful weight was taken off my shoulders.”

‘Over Here’ also comes with a captivating visualiser that hypnotically shows Chase morph between two personas that represent the two listening experiences she hopes this track will bring. With bright colours, distorted camera angles, and electric visuals, this video is the perfect addition to her new energetic banger.

Elaborating on the hypnotic visualiser that accompanies her track she said, “I imagined this song existing in two different worlds – one, where people can listen and dance around unapologetically in their own space like in the car on a road trip or in their bedroom, and the other at a festival or club dancefloor. I feel as though it’s a song you can dance along to but also daydream and chill out to. It lends itself to different moods and different occasions.”

“Because of that, I wanted to put on two separate personas for the visualiser. The black outfit is more sleek and glam, representing the festival/club dancefloor, and the white outfit with a crimped head of hair is more free flowing and represents people’s ‘alone time’ listening space. I didn’t want the video to be too choreographed or overdone, I just wanted to get in front of the camera and dance around and do what felt natural to the music. I knew that would create the most authentic outcome and would match the flow of the song.”

Continuing to climb the music industry ladder, Chase has delivered a bold new addition to her 2020 output with ‘Over Here’ proving she is one of Australia’s finest electronic artists on the rise. With achievements like performances at various major music festivals, supporting headline artists including Hayden James, Bag Raiders, GRAACE and soon KLP, and an increasing following base, she is unashamedly sharing the intimacies of her life in the most exciting and anthemic of ways. With ‘Over Here’ showing her talent is ever-growing, there’s no doubt we’ll be seeing more from Chase Zera as she rises to the top.
